Introduction
Dr Stewart works closely with the surgeons at the Royal Prince Alfred and Lifehouse hospital sarcoma team. The management of these complex tumours often requires reconstructive surgery either to achieve a healed wound with soft tissue cover or to restore muscle or nerve function after the surgery.
Sarcoma reconstruction is varied and challenging and involves moving skin and muscle or bone around the body (free tissue transfer), nerve surgery and tendon transfers.
